About Mel Lo Designs

“Meet me where the sky touches the sea.”

About the art.

My work is about exploring the space where land, sea, memories, and emotion all come together. Through abstract seascapes and landscapes, I’m not trying to capture a literal place, but more the feeling of standing at the edge of something big, familiar, and always shifting.

Inspired by shifting tides, expansive horizons, weathered coastlines, and the quiet rhythms of nature, I build each painting through layers of color, texture, and intuitive brush strokes. The process is a mix of planning and letting go—a back-and-forth between control and spontaneity—until each piece naturally finds its own sense of place.

Instead of showing a specific location, I want the viewer to bring their own memories and feelings into the work. A distant shoreline might bring back childhood summers, a hazy horizon could feel like hope or longing, and a textured sky might simply invite a moment of pause. Abstraction gives that space for personal interpretation, turning each painting into a shared emotional experience.

The sea has long represented both calm and chaos for me, while the land offers grounding and resilience. Together, these elements become metaphors for the human experience—our constant movement through seasons of change, stillness, uncertainty, and renewal.

Ultimately, my paintings are an invitation to pause. In a chaotic world, I hope to create moments of quiet reflection where viewers can reconnect with nature, memories, and themselves.
